Town House Square

In 2001, Salem Renewal was launched with a goal to enhance the livability and vibrancy of the historic downtown. The first project undertaken was Town House Square, a handsome 4-story brick double building, circa 1892 and 1902. Not realizing the radical transformation our complete restoration would result in, no "before" photos were taken.

At time of aquisition the two upper floors were vacant. On the fourth floor, the plaster ceilings lay in large chunks, where it had fallen years before. The many holes in the roof and the temporary patches had created a strange effect, with long stalactites of roof tar hanging from the ceiling. This was the only building in Salem with several large trees growing out of the brickwork and the windows.

Today, it features four vibrant shops and nine high-end residential cindominiums.
